Travel Film – Sarkhej Roza, Ahmedabad.

Postcards from west – Sarkhej Roza
This is a travel film that developed as a result of my constant exploration of this ancient space.
Some of the many things I saw and a few, that I missed. The beauty of the space is captured in a rather unconventional style, and expressed through the rapid cuts. The original royal citadel of the city of Ahmedabad, Sarkhej Roza is an
ever evolving historical synthesis. It is a fusion of early Islamic architecture and the indigenous Jain and Hindu influences, defining the Indo-Saracenic style.

The magnificent pond that is empty almost throughout the year, the bits and pieces that is falling off the edges of pillars, the famished dogs and crows, and the absorbing sultriness alienates you in their subtle way.
What make this presently half abandoned marvel endearing, is the visitors. The energy they bring and the life they infuse, even among the numerous tombs located at the Roza.

This film was selected for Competition category at SiGNS festival 2015 organized by Federation of Film Societies of India
