'Echoes' by Edward Abela

When you think of classical music, you probably think of a man in a wig from hundreds of years ago composing seemingly never ending pieces- it's not everyone's cup of tea.

However, classical music has come a long way since then and Edward Abela is one man proving this with his contemporary, piano led style that employs modern and unique production methods to make his music appeal to a wider audience.

Having worked as a musician/producer for Warner-Chappel in the past, writing film scores and even having his music featured on programs for Sky, BBC and Channel 4, you can't say that the young pianist doesn't have the experience. A talented multi-instrumentalist, but pianist at heart, Edward's compositions are masterpieces of delicate piano, merged with thought-provoking soundscapes and inventive effects. Consequently, he is combatting the typical image of classical music, drawing more people into this beautiful style.

Edward has just released his new EP, Echoes, which follows up his 2015 album, Chronicles. The five-track EP takes listeners on a journey through ambient space which Abela hopes will stir emotion and imagination in the minds and hearts of its audience. With each piece he writes, Edward looks to tell a story and whilst some may find this difficult to do without lyrics, Abela's affinity with the keys of his piano manages to overcome this obstacle, painting vivid pictures through the cinematic nature of his music.
Although primarily a classical musician, Edward has dabbled in a number of other genres, collaborating with Bee Bakare on her soul EP and with Marcus Bonfanti on his rock album. As well as this, Edward has also performed at Union Chapel for a David Bowie memorial gig.

Echoes is out now.
