White Space
"the thing that happens between us"
An epiphany.

This is what I felt the first time I saw Richard Avedon black and white portraits.
No other body of work, no other image has had on me the same grip, appeal, deep fascination.
All these feelings, all this emotions, just there, without buoyant lights, props, postproduction.
An empty white space, filled by the subject, the photographer and their intimate dialogue.

Then I felt in me the growing desire to prove myself in the same white space. I wanted to create that energy, that bond, that intimate dialogue.
So, Am I copying the great master? No point in that.
He's uncopiable.
He was who he was and I'm who I am. This, in the economy of the portrait, is going to make all the difference, in good (my relationship with my subject it's my own) and in bad (I've still a lot to learn about the craft)

So this project it's just the subject, me and "the thing that happens between us"
