The Sensory Shaker was designed in conjuction with a brief put forward to University College Falmouth, by Joanna Grace to design a sensory aid contained within a single receptacle.
The Sensory Shaker is intended for use by people with PMLD (profound multiple learning disabilities). The detachable silicone bracelets can be worn by a user with limited mobility enabling them to produce sounds regardless of their range of movement. The idea of this is that they are then able to process the idea that they are responsible and capable of making these sounds, which will develop and enhance their mental development.
The Sensory Shaker is comprised of six separate bracelets with both bells and wooden clappers attached, made from locally sourced Cherry and Oak. The container itself has a mirrored surface to reflect light and arouse the visual senses of the user. A reflective space blanket is held within the container and can be removed and utilised as a further sensory aid.

If the user has a higher level of mobility, the entire Sensory Shaker can be used as a single unit and used as a sensory aid in its complete form.
