Personal mixed media project
I decided to delve into a bit of decoupage using shopping bags from one of my favorite clothing brands, the Spanish designer Desigual. I cut up the shopping bag into small bits and pieces for the background color explosion, and then went to my stash of Pantone Fashion Color Reports for the illustrations. I added mixed media elements like rose pedals, tissue paper, feathers, magazine images, and other found materials. I wanted both pieces to feel unmistakably Spanish. It was a fun experiment!
I made the skirt from cloth rose pedals. I had to wear these same red flowers for a dance performance, so I loved the idea of giving the flowers a drastically different second life.
I used tissue paper and buttons for the skirt.
