Adobe Brief -D&AD Award Entry 2017

The Adobe brief required me to illustrate a series of three posters that visually express the advice I have chosen to give, which is that one should not take everything in life so seriously. There comes a point in everyone’s life where it is necessary to stray off the ‘path’ and do things differently. With this chosen advice I need to communicate the message: “Know when to draw the line”. With my poster I needed to show that rules are put into place for a reason, but one does not have to follow them exactly by the book. When you are well informed about the foundations that have been put in place, you are free to manipulate them however you see fit – In order to cross lines, you need to know where they lie.

My concept is “MISBEHAVE” which directly means failure to conduct one’s self in an appropriate matter expected by others. The concept surrounds honing in on your mischievous characteristics by channeling them into a positive direction.

Each of the posters in the series contains a theme which all surround the manipulation of rules. These 3 dimensional, distorted words stand to depict that you need to approach life with a different perspective. Each word is characterised by Twisting, Bending and Breaking in order to visually express the importance of rules.
