PLEASE GIVE BLOOD*
A project that aims to raise awareness around the issue of blood donation when you are a member of the LGBT+ community, which is often overlooked or unknown to the general public, in different ways through participant interaction. The project highlights how these hidden rules are outdated and discriminatory.
Firstly, the rules against gay and bi-sexual men giving blood are shown using invisible text, the viewer must move themselves into a position that gives them the right lighting to read the text.
Secondly, the rules are hidden under a heat sensitive paper, allowing the participant to uncover the hidden rules themselves.
Thirdly, the discriminatory rules are hidden amongst a list of all other reasons for refusal of blood donation - this 2 meter long poster highlights how common it is to be unable to give blood and this highlights how important the overturning of outdated laws are.
