Branding: Sylva Jewelry

This is a branding project done for one of the BFA course at San Jose State University. I had a great time doing this project because I got to choose the name for the brand and develop it from scratch. The project includes creating a logo, business system, poster, packages and website.
The logo contains a stylized letter S making a lady’s face with additional minimal details to complete the face. The lowercase letter Y is styled represent a necklace shape consistent of circular pattern. This pattern is gradually smaller to suggest transformation and continuity. The typeface is rounded at the edge with geometric perfect counter on lowercase letter A providing a modern and clean feeling for the logo. 
The primary red color is emphasized on the necklace to give hierarchy for the overall logo, suggesting the shape of the necklace is the most important portion of the logo. The circular pattern of the necklace is also used as patterns for other applications such as packaging, poster, etc. 
Business system: Envelope and Business Cards
The stylized letter S of the logo is spread throughout the envelope , front side and back side of the business card to create a set. The letterhead also has a continuous line through the front and back, and the line also connects with the dotted line on the envelope when put inside to create a sense of belonging.

Promotional Poster
The poster mostly emphasizes the nature character of this brand. It is created by combining the image of a ring, a mirror, and a tree. The ring is a symbol for jewelry as one of the packages is focused on rings. The mirror is a metaphor for reflection, looking into yourself and bring out your true self. The tree is a symbol for nature as it is the main focus of this brand. The vines also form the shape of the logo conveying the brand emerges from nature, inspired by nature. Overall, the poster conveys the message “enhance your beauty using the nature through our jewelry.” 
Packaging
The packaging includes two lines of products: a set containing necklaces, earrings and rings; and a special package for engagement rings. The three packages make up one set will have the same interaction when customers open them. It will have half-circle shape for the actual container inside the package, and a rectangular shape for the outside package itself. Customers will open it by rotating the half circle container revealing the products inside as a way of saying “bring out your inner nature.” 
The engagement ring package is designed to have the ring rotating itself when the customers open up the box. It still keeps the essence of the rotating motion from the other packages to keep it coherent throughout while making it a little more special.

The 3D mock up modeling of the trade show booth 
The mockup for this brand will have the main characteristics of the brand itself such as feminine, elegant, beautiful, and a lot of interactions throughout the whole structure. The primary shapes of the booth contain the form of the letter S and Y, the half circle shape of the jewelry set, and the folding pattern of the engagement ring package. The end of the letter S will act as the counter for cashier/booth attending people to work. 
There will also be mirrors around the booth so customers can see themselves while trying on the products to see if they fit their personality. The mirror will also act as the reflection to make up the full circle pattern of the letter Y as well as light reflector to focus on the logo which is placed directly above it. There will be necklaces attached on the outside of the mirrors so that passerby can see themselves with a necklace on when they walk by, and it will attract them to go into the booth and see other products. 
At the back of the booth, there will be a structure suggesting a transformation from solid wall to see-through wall conveying “bring out your nature,” bring out the best in you and let people see through your beauty. It is formed by the paper cranes which contain the folding patterns of the ring packages.

The website is designed based on the brand’s characteristics which is minimalistic, feminine with a focus on the nature inspired products. The products are divided into collections which will help customers look for the product easier, or they can search for the specific product using product name or keywords.
