Battle Management | SitaWare Frontline | Concept & UX

Concept design, requirement specification, interaction design and UI design for communication and navigation tool for armored vehicles. Project was initially called SitaWare BMS (Battle Management System) but later changed to what is now called SitaWare Frontline.

Sketches for new features on the BMS system, as it was deployed for more clients. 
The first concept visual design sketch for the BMS system. The idea was based on a game design template with specific panels. It was based on and designed for forward moving motion, allowing the top part of the screen to be uncluttered.

Photographs from various research scenarios. I can be seen in the first picture. We specifically designed the system for the diverse lighting conditions and movement in an armored vehicle. I also designed specific digital elements to match other physical interactive elements in the vehicle.
A unique thing designed for the system was a custom designed warning system for various scenarios. This was based on designed from similar systems on aircraft.

The system was designed for installation on smaller ruggedized tablets. It could be configured to work with function keys on the device, allowing for speed and accuracy.
Personas were crafted for the software suite, for all levels of the command structrure. There was also a specific BMS persona. I lead the crafting of the personas with a team of UX designers.
