This Way, That Way Planters

Planter Project
As part of my first year of university my class and I received a live one month brief/project from a group of big companies in London. In our briefs we were told to create a modular planter system that would fit well in a group of luxurious buildings that are currently being constructed in the North Greenwich Peninsula. I put a lot of effort in this project and I am proud to say that I was a runner up for the competition. Below is my first pitch to the judges which showcased three ideas/concepts for the competition that I came up with.
As you can see in the images above, each design had a theme/purpose to them and this helped me get a sense of what the judges wanted from our designs. At this stage, the judges from the companies were extremely impressed with my work however they believed that the best design/concept which would work well in their buildings was the first one.
From our first feedback session with the judges, I improved my work and designs a lot. I made many changed which helped with the purpose of the design (way finding) as well as with technical aspects such as making the design lighter and easier to transport. Overall these improvements showed to be a major success because I was one of the seven students to be shortlisted for the competitions out of our entire class.
The above images show the prints that I was able to showcase at the North Greenwich yearly Urban Village Fete. Overall, I found the project challenging yet extremely helpful. The competition helped me develop as a designer because I showed me how to work with stress as well as to stay organised. I would like to thank Morrisroe, Knight Dragon and Hemmingway designs for having given myself and the Ravensbourne class of 2019 this opportunity as our first major competition.
