3rd Year Project: Design For A Better Commute

Design for a Better Commute

This was a Collaborative Research 3rd Year Project based on Designing for a Better Commute.  The research was done on 2 students whereby data was gathered on the issues that 2 students have in terms of commuting to university in Johannesburg on a daily basis. The solution would help in eliminating these issues.
Both students face different challenges and have different needs in terms of commuting to university. Faith has her own car therefore her challenges are not the same as Tumi's who uses the Reya Vaya Bus which is a rapid transit system in South Africa. Therefore the poster above depicts their unique aspects of the their transportation methods/ systems along with their needs and challenges.
Once the problems were identified a solution was then designed to try an eliminate the challenges the the students faced. The solution as depicted above is a designed Uber App software that they both could use.

It works similar to an Uber app but instead, the app will Faith to request for a student already on campus to come and help her carry her load from student parking. For Tumi it is an Uber student taxi app that would work around a students budget and timing, whereby the night before she could request transport on the app for a specific chosen time so that it arrives at that exact time and it won't require to waste time requesting for transport then waiting for it to arrive.
