PodVenture is a dual occupant autonomous vehicle designed specifically for use in natural parks and similiar environments. As it is designed for best accessibility with ramp, ample storage and space inside it is ideal for wheelchair users and families with pushchairs.
Anthropometry was considered in the design to improve comfort and usability.
The pod would be autonomous but for both comfort and safety of passenger's some control would be available. To be better accessible to elderly part of this control would be through a physical control panel within the passenger's reach from their seat. The panel allows for speed adjustment, opening doors, controlling temperature etc. Additional functionalities (e.g. route choice, additional information) would be available through the touchscreen above the control panel.
The pod would be equipped with additional functionalities tailored specifically to enhance to occupant's experience of the natural park. Besides the touchscreen the pod would also display additional information on the windows based on the pods location.
A full scale model of the pod's interior was built by the team to present its design. During built the seating and other element were tested with users and adjusted accordingly.
