Tritona loudspeakers
Bachelor of Art thesis project
2006
The Tritona loudspeakers and subwoofer concept is based on a loudspeaker DIY-kit, which was heavily redesigned and modified for a better end result both functionally and aesthetically. The kit utilizes high-end moving coil and air motion transformer drivers by Eton Gmbh.

The starting point was to select a suitable standmount loudspeaker and a supporting subwoofer for redesigning. A kit’s design has fixed attributes to be left untouched, such as internal volume and reflex pipe size. However, many parts of the cabinet could be enhanced visually and functionally. For example the shape of the cabinet decreases internal standing waves and diffraction.
The logo is inspired by Triton's trident and the letter T.
The cabinet is extremely heavy and rigid. All in all I had the possibility and will to build a set of speakers without compromises. Many of the cross-over parts were also upgraded maintaining their electrical qualities. The cabinet is made out of CNC-machined MDF parts, which are assembled in a sandwich principle.
