The Female Figure: A Study
Modesty and sensuality are not often grouped together for obvious reasons, but this series challenges that notion. Focusing on body language instead of facial expressions, I created multiple charcoal studies of four different models, each girl depicting a different emotion: despair, serenity, leisure, and reflection. From these drawings, four different sculptures were produced, and their faces were purposely left blank to help convey the intended emotion through body language alone.
Despair           stoneware clay,  5.25" x 14" x 5"
Cogitation                  stoneware clay, 12" x 4.5" x 5"
Leisure               stoneware clay, 16" x 7" x 5"
