I was inspired to do this digital painting because of my son, who is an avid train enthusiast and Civil War history buff. The General is probably the most famous American-type locomotive in history. During the Civil War it was part of the infamous "Andrews Raid". This engine is featured in movies such as Disney's "The Great Locomotive Chase", and Buster Keaton's "The General". Included below is an actual photo of The General and my son, taken when we visited the Southern Museum on our way through Kennesaw Georgia on vacation.
