The Room of Planets is an interactive installation at the Science Center in Pirmasens, Germany.

When visitors enter the room their position gets tracked and a virtual star is attached to their feet. The gravitational field of the star influences the flight of planets in the room. They can even be forced into an orbit around the star, which will then be visualized.

Since the installation can be used by several persons at the same time, the different gravitational fields can interfere with another. Stars can collide or orbiting planets can be stolen. The behavior of the planets and stars is modeled using real astrophysics.
