For this project, after a trip to Coney Island, we had to use photography and typography combine together to create powerful images and bind them to make an accordion shape book. I used quotes from the book Marina by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, which is my favorite writer. For the images I create a green-yellow filter using Lightroom to give an old feel to the photographs but popping an orange color to keep the circus, fun, look of Coney Island.

 

White grids and black lines helped me to give this book a more graphic design look hiding and reveling the words to make it more interesting. Printing was a really important step to make the accordion since is print both playing with the grid in the side we can not see.

 

For the covers I used fabric that I dye with stamp ink and also I used the transfer technique to place an image of the Ferris Wheel in the front. The concept is really thoughtful as well, the quotes are talking bout memories, what we remember, our secrets, who we are at the end, and this place definitely had a lot of memories itself, a lot of history and places to discover, this is something I really enjoy of this project that I could actually go there and get lost, explore and then create something out of this experience.
