Tanzania Travel Poster

In the beginning of this project, we didn't know which direction to take this project. We wanted to capture the essence of Mt. Kilimanjaro but also capture the presence of the wildlife in the areas surrounding the mountain. After some thumbnail sketches we found a way to incorporate both aspects of Tanzania. We used Unsplash to find base pictures to use for the final design. Then we found the perfect base to represent Kilimanjaro and one of the animals from the Big 5, the elephant. 

 

We used photos from Unsplash and photos that Jake took while on a vacation to Africa. We needed pictures of animals that you would see on a safari in Tanzania and we also needed to find pictures of scenery that incorporated the safari scenery with the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro.   

Once we found out that we wanted to include the mountain and some sort of African animal into the design made different sketches of different possible views of the mountain with animals in the foreground. We messed around with the animals going through elephants, giraffes, lions, and rhinos. We added trees along with other vegetation to give it a safari type of vibe. 

We produced 4 projects and thought that all of them were good quality. We tested different type fonts and as well as different filters on the picture itself. We also put different animals in the pictures to see which one we liked the most. The one thing that stayed the same throughout all of them was the background. Our final design had our favorite font and filter. We feel that our product is one of the best representations of what to expect when you go on the trip. We believe our final draft portrays a Tanzania immersion trip perfectly. We displayed how Kilimanjaro towers over the landscape that it is surrounded by. We then showed the serenity of the scenery by including a herd of elephants walking across scene. In the end when it came to choosing the filters we use we decided to use the cutout filter. We did a little bit of color correction to make the grass and elephants look like they belonged there more.
