Laser cut wood bike pedals with skate grip

Laser cut wood bike pedals
This project is the mix of two technologies that I love : 3D printing and laser cutting. I first designed the outside shape of pedal and then started to think about what I could do with such technologies. I chose a 3D printed plastic core for the tight tolerance aroud the axle but also for strength. I went for wood on the outside for its look. I could have added screws that aren't flush with the surface of the wood as grip but I chose skatebord grip that I could also laser cut.
One pedal is made with 6 laser cut pieces, 2 big 3D printed parts and 2 small 3D printed dowels. Everything is glued together with epoxy and then sanded & varnished. The laser cut griptape is finally added. The steel axle comes form an existing pedal that I had.
The result is a pretty strong pedal wih a unique look!
