PANAFRICANISM
I came up with this experimental poster, which has been realized with risograph printing techniques. Robert Nesta Marley, better known as Bob, was Jamaican reggae singer active since 1962. The artist was a member of the Rastafari movement, a key element in the development of reggae. As far as his religion is concerned, one of the most important themes that proposed in his songs, was the liberation of all the africans from Babylonians, identified in European coloniser.
Marley’s identification with Africa, through the Rastafari movement, produced a strong awareness of political developments during the 1960s. The singer fought against the Apartheid and the African diaspora thanks to his music; he also proposed the ideology of Pan-Africanism; “a belief that African people, both on the continent and in the diaspora, share not only a common history, but also a common destiny”. This poster represent this connection of destiny and souls between Africans under form of data. By doing this Marley’s belief take form, and finally all the African souls will be united allover the world.
