Hudson Yards Education Center : Spring 2017
Hudson Yards, New York, NY
Exterior Perspective
Unlike a traditional library, the Hudson Yards Education Center promotes collaboration and unified learning. Allowing those who learn in all styles a place to work, the HYEC provides working space tailored to an individual’s learning style. With large open spaces for collaboration, the HYEC takes a new approach towards a library by limiting the private space to encourage learning through one’s peers. The building’s design is comprised of seven nodes which are connected under an overarching canopy. Each node represents a one of the seven learning strategies; visual, verbal, physical, aural, logical, social, and experiential learning. Within each of these nodes there are different spaces set up for you to learn through each learning style.

Final Model Photos
Relating to the building's program of a Library, the final model created for this project was a series of seven books. Each book represents one of the seven learning styles and has pages and elements inserted within. Those who interact with this model are able to learn about building's design through each individual learning style.
