Dr. Doom Costume

A friend of mine got tickets to got to the 2016 New York Comic Con and he wanted to dress up as Dr. Doom, so he asked me to help him by making him a costume. I spent the summer leading up to Comic Con taking body measurements and doing different prototypes of the body armor. I took a lot of liberty with the design since there are so many different designs for Dr. Doom's armor. The whole costume is made out of EVA foam floor mats. I cut, sculpted, sanded, primed, and painted each piece of armor, 23 pieces in total. The helmet and the mask were made separate and are connected with magnets, so he could take the mask off.
He loved the costume and it was a big hit at Comic Con. As we walked around the floor people were stopping him left and right to take pictures with him. I tried counting up how many people stopped him for pictures, and just over 50 people wanted photos with him. As the designer and maker of the costume it made me really happy to see how many people enjoyed the end product.
