The Plague
My MA course’s major nal project based on my dissertation; titled:
“How can the concept of traditional storytelling be amalgamated with the mechanics of a video game to provide an interactive platform for moral teaching that will appeal to a wide spectrum of players?”.
For this project I amalgamated the ideology and teaching devices of fables and traditional storytelling with the mechanics and art direction of video games to create an entertaining and morally thought-provoking video game concept. In addition to the art direction, branding, Illustration and packaging for this video game concept I got even more familiar with 2D animation as I created a short trailer that showcases and explains the concepts plot, theme and style.

Project contents
Illustration: Created a unique style and art direction throughout the project and created concept art and character design boards to support my quest boards which illustrate the gameplay in stills and the moral choice making the game concept is based on in addition to the consequences  possible outcomes each choice has.

Identity and branding: To support the video game concept i designed various identity and branding elements such as a logo, hand drawn illustrated in game map, box art for the physical copy of the game, vinyl stickers, a illustrated game manual, posters and postcards.

Animation: Created a short 2D story trailer that sets the tone and explains in brief the plot using the illustration style used in the game.

Writing: I created an original story and plot in order to facilitate my dissertation research question. I researched and took influence from a variety of medieval fables, mythologies and actual historical events in order to create characters, regions, creatures and scripts for in game quests.
