Construction Documentation for Frontier Farm Credit Headquarters

Frontier Farm Credit provides financial assistance to the agricultural industry in the Midwest. As a company, Frontier Farm Credit (FFC) is looking to the future. Throughout the course of two semesters, the site for the FFC Headquarters was used in standard design implementation projects. The project focused on eight aspects of construction; conceptual design, grading, earthwork estimations, dimensioning, lighting, irrigation, detailing, and planting.

A contrast of two design geometries creates a dynamic landscape for the new headquarters. On the northern half of the site, a gridded, modern planting scheme was used to mimic the angular façade of the building. The plantings direct visitors and show that FFC is looking to the future. On the southern half of the site, naturalized sweeps of plantings radiate from the building’s curved façade. The broad swathes of plants represents FFC’s agricultural and land based past.

On the southern portion of the site, a large bioswale runs across the site. Throughout the seasons, the swale plantings will change from week to week providing views of color and texture from the first and second floor patios
