We need to be aware of the damage we are causing to our environment (and to ourselves) with the excessive use of plastics.

Many of these wastes reach the oceans and gigantic plastic islands are forming.

Bags and straws (among others) directly damage animals such as sea turtles that confuse them with food and die asphyxiated. The straws are another predator that gets stuck in the nostrils causing them suffering and death.

For people who do not feel so much empathy with animals should know that some of the fish we eat already contain plastic particles. What you throw into the sea comes to your plate.
