Photo Essay: Day in the Life of a Student Musician

I chose to document a day in the life of a student musician because I personally think the life of a musician is artistic and shows extensive character. The message I am trying to convey is how music in this students life is everything. Not only do they play it, but they listen to it, write it, and read it; it is a lifestyle. I wanted to show how this passion for music in this persons life is strong and that she has fun while doing it. My process of taking these photos begins when the student begins their homework and then music, on her mind, takes over her focus. From this experience, I learned how much fun a person could have while doing what they love.
- The student ( Casandra) begins her afternoon after school by listening to music happily.
- She becomes more into the moment and rhythms flow from the headphones to her hands onto the book.
- Casandra gets ideas and begins writing music to later create a song.
- Her idea takes play and she creates more sounds in 'Garage Band' on her laptop.
- Casandra feels irksome as she creates her music and doesn't sound how she wants it to.
- She begins to practice her newly written music on her congas.
- Having more fun, she switches to a drum pad.
- After a while on the drum pad, she is ready to play her song on the drum set.
- She begins to play.
- Frustration comes around as she still cant seem to get the song right.
- She tries again.
- Casandra's annoyance grows when she messes up her song AGAIN.
