Lafcadio Hearn RetroSpective Project

Brief:
Dublin Institute of Design - 2nd Year Project - Booklet and additional stationery for a Retrospective of the work of author Lafcadio Hearn.

Considerations and approach:
Lafcadio Hearn suffered from extreme myopia and this booklet serves to put the reader in the position of the author, unable to read the text without the aid of the included filters.

Media and method:
The booklet was printed on 170gsm paper and was hand stitched, covered and bound.

The body text was increasingly overprinted throughout the booklet. The text was also printed in anaglyphic colours and can be read clearly using a provided coloured lens filter, similar to that on the cover.

Front cover of booklet styled as a journalist notebook with added red filter to emphasise the anaglyphic text beneath

Inner text with colour overlay to emphasise clarity through overlaid colour
