This is a personal piece I've been meaning to do for a long time, partly inspired by the identity crisis that comes with art school and partly inspired by Lois Lowry's "The Giver," which I love more every time I read. The concept is that an artist has no choice but to be an artist, whether it's their full-time breadwinning gig or not, but the process of becoming the one-of-a-kind artist that each of us is tends to be a scary, challenging process. Your identity is valid, your colors are valid, your artistry is valid, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
