Aerodynamic Design and CFD Analysis of Car-body Through

The aerodynamic drag force is the dominating resistance force at higher velocity in sports car. The car body is often optimized for reducing the drag resistance but one region where the aerodynamic development has not reach its full potential is by considering the turbulence on the car body. This project is all about evaluating the aerodynamic parameters of a car model using CFD as a tool and propose modifications such that there is a reduction in drag. This is achieved by increasing the turbulence on the car surface which will results in the reduction of drag coefficient. There is need to design as car in such a way that it would increase the efficiency of car in terms of fuel consumption. Turbulence is increased by producing dimpled car surface same as the golf ball. A smooth golf ball hit by a professional golfer would travel only about half as far as a golf ball with dimples does.
