This piece was apart of part B in my summer assignment, the prompt was to create a self portrait done by looking at your reflection in an unusual surface.

My piece is titled Shatter, as is its a reflection in a broken mirror. The piece is a combination of oils and acrylics, the face and base layer for the hair was all done in oils while the background and shirt aswell as hair and eye touch ups were done in acrylics. I feel like my use of line really worked well in this piece aswell as contrast. This piece is probably one of my best so far I’m really proud of it. Although some weaknesses I’d like to improve on are probably eyes and hair. The reference for my piece was my own photography that I took of myself. Although it wasn’t really easy to do as I had to try and get it to look nice without getting too much of my phone in the picture. In the end I did a bit of cropping and touching up to make it work. I’ve probably given myself a lot of bad luck though as I had to break two mirrors for this because the first one was too shattered.
