The Pelican

The Pelican utilizes large brush-strokes painted in an impressionist style. The Pelican is a noble bird within the animal totem. Pelicans represent among other things opportunism. These large birds hover around local fishing grounds and ocean piers, looking down from their perch, then alight on giant wings and soar down to the ocean’s cresting tides. I watched as these enormous birds repeated this ritual time and time again, each time swooping up again to alight on the pear beside me. One in particular let me stand a few feet away. He showed me how to be open and at ease while observing the next advantageous place to position oneself.
