CHARACTER DESIGN. ILLUSTRATION. CARD DESIGN.

Duck Da Bomb is a coding card game initiated by Refruit – a design agency based in Singapore and Myanmar – for kids to learn how to code pleasingly without the need for screens.

The game seeks an approachable and fun manner in learning the foundation of programming. Aiming for kids to be able to easily grasp the concept of coding, it reaches for a strategic gameplay that tells stories by involving characters.

CHARACTER DESIGN
Per the name of the game, the duck of various personalities was brought to life; being as simple, lovable, and gender-neutral as possible. Additional characters involved bombs which players would set in the game.

CARD DESIGN
With a free-spirited background of the Memphis pattern and a vibrant colour palette, the design was made with kids in mind and put in a layout that stresses on functionality. Illustration on the cards was implemented as part of the instruction cues.

WHAT HAS BECOME OF THE GAME NOW?
So the work above was originally designed during the game’s prototype phase. The latest design might change accordingly, as it has since been taken over by the team. You can read through the game’s journey so far here.
