Slana
Exhibition Catalogue
As you read the catalog of exhibition Slana you will find out how was a life of a small littoral town of Selce (Croatia) in between two World Wars. That was a time of big social turmoils that have had a big influence on Selce’s day to day life. In a difficult economic and political situation of that time, people were struggling to survive and that is mostly how our ancestors remember life in a Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes (Kingdom of SHS) and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. But, despite a misfortune of that period, there are a lot of people that remember this time for the activity of Yugoslavian Royal Navy in Selce. In 1930 in Slana Bay was situated the only Navy Command for the defense of North Adriatic. During the April war, the Littoral defense of Selce was providing resistance to an invasive Italian army. Throughout the course of withdrawal od Yugoslavian army, the Navy base in Slana Bay was almost completely destroyed.
