Visual Identity for a notional institute for cultural openness in Germany (Deutschland).

Borders locate nationalities. Nationality does not make any identity. Identity marks individuals. Individuals live with and through variance and commonality. Why create boundaries where are none needed?
The notional institute for cultural openness »deutsch–and« advocates a Germany that though has physical boundaries but wants to go beyond human boundaries in the name of interculturality and anti-populist fellowship – nationally and internationally. Not borders, but people make countries.

In the word mark »deutsch-and« the horizontal line represents the small letter »L«. With the word »deutsch« we have represented Germany as a country, the »and« should make it clear that people do not define themselves solely by their nationality. Each person is an individual defined by his personality. The small »L« forms the connecting element of both aspects. The word mark is strictly set in small letters in order to create an unassuming effect

To underline the aspect of individuality and diversity, there is a finishing with hologram foil used. Thus, depending on the angle of view and the direction of light falling in, different colors are reflected in the print products.
