Plastic Addict | Green Bauhaus Foundation Posters

PROJECT BRIEF
This international poster initiative by Helmut Langer and The Green Bauhaus Foundation serves to highlight the plight and urgency around the impact of plastic pollution upon the oceans. The integration of digital photography in a poster context serves to explore and amplify the communicative spectrum between these two disciplines. The posters are intended to pave the way to social change through creating awareness. Typography, copy and illustration must work with the black and white photographic imagery to communicate a chosen message based on a concept. The digital photographs should fall under two of the following genres: Environmental landscape, environmental portrait and found object.
DESIGN STRATEGY
These two posters follow the concept of addiction, communicating a message that sees the use of plastic as a self-destructive addiction in our society. Dramatic lighting is used to display the plastic bottle as eerie while the environmental portrait is similar to a mugshot, depicting how plastic addiction applies to everyone. The aim of creating the campaign #PlasticAddict is to make people more aware of how much plastic they use as well as spread awareness on social media platforms, giving people the chance to admit they are plastic addicts too.
