Our core concept came from exploring how typography will change in both the near and far future. Typography, writing systems and their usage has changed in many ways across history, and have been highly impacted by the development of technology. In the past 50 years, diverse tools, methods and technologies have rapidly changed, revolutionizing the ways we communicate in society. People now exchange ideas using communication methods that take advantage of our increasingly digitally connected world in ways that would be unimaginable to previous generations. Our team believes that digital revolution in typography will impact how people experience life in the smart cities of the future.
The leading interactive feature of the project is that the user can use hand gestures to draw in the air that then remains suspended in that 3D virtual space superimposed on the real world. Once users wear HoloLens, they can experience Augmented Reality with 3D modelling of the city of Toronto in the room. Then during or after an audio description of the intention of the project, users can participate in the project experience by wearing the HoloLens and drawing. Moreover, users also can see the previous drawings of other participants. Ordered by the user's voice commands, the colour of the drawing changed the followed order colour.
