This piece I did for a collaboration illustration competition between Draw a Dot and Six Lee fashion featuring their s/s 2013 menswear.
I researched a bit into what the line was about for this season and found that it focused on, "tailoring tradition with a futuristic twist," and colors and prints were details highly considered. They supplied numerous references and their campaign already looked like how I work with dramatic colored lighting on the models. Since the idea was tradition meets modern edge I went for a retro look that seemed to fit the stylings of the model perfectly, adding in the pattern in the glasses, the stars, and background shadow. The coloring is both tradition and modern, playing off the the physical look of the model in combination with the clothes which share the same qualities. I wanted to bring my own style to their work while still keeping in touch with what the fashion is meant to inspire.
