If you have been following me for a while you know I love God. I love art that glorifies him especially in music, poetry, and visual art. Jackie Hill Perry bodies all of those forms of art, well not visuals lol. I made some art for
@Prestonperry and JHP a few years ago and presented it to them on their Detroit stop on the Poets in Autumn tour and they loved it! So I thought it only right for me to add her to my series.
#ifihadthechanceto create the cover for
@jackiehillperry lastest album Crescendo it would look something like this if I drew it. The album is about God, her relationship with him, and others. (To make lyrically dense album description short lol.) I made it visually simple and bold like her words. The placement of the faces resembles a crescendo in sheet music. If you look closely you can see the lines for the sheet music. The fire about the head is a reference to Acts 2 when the holy spirit came upon the new church on the day of Pentecost and it resembled something like clouds of fire above their heads. It also represents the power of the Holy Spirit empowering her to make fire music lol. The sun in the back represents the son who empowers his people. If you know you know lol. What do you see when you look at this cover?
