A couple of pages full with sketches to choose from; different shapes and poses for the melting armor.
My initial idea was to make something manga style from the pages of Alastair Reynolds' novel Century Rain, a curious mix of science fiction and detective genre, highly recomended. Don't want to spoil the reading and I'll just say that in the final part of the novel, the two main characters confronts a group of armored individuals in the ruins of a postapocaliptic Paris; my focus laid in that armor with the capacity of change shape at will in order to protect the one who wears it.
This is the design sketched in pencil that I choose for the final work.
The final black and white illustration made with fine liners and ink brushes in a moleskine notebook (the same one I use for sketching). The work isn't finished yet.
The final work; polished and coloured in gimp and then vectorised using inkscape.
