The Beautiful and the Beastly
'The Beautiful and the Beastly' is a campaign for International Women's Day 2019, 'Balance for Better'.
The idea is to embrace the complexity of a person, the beautiful side which is more presentable ('the aesthetic), and the beastly which is often seen as the less presentable ('the flaw'). A cracked pomegranate is used to symbolize both femininity—alluding to Persephone—and the nature of imperfection.
In the Greek myth, Persephone took a bite of the pomegranate served by Hades and assumed the throne as the empress of the underworld, granting her agency and power of her own.
This campaign was made for hobodesu.
