Abode Visual Identity: Phase 2

In Phase 2 of branding for Abode Hostel, three unique visual identity directions were explored that sought to express it's fun and friendly vibe. More information about this project can be viewed here.

Direction 1: Whimsical and Approachable
This visual direction attempts to come across as approachable, sociable, and warm. The colors are bright but slightly muted, the logo, wordmark, and text are lacking in sharp corners and have a hand generated quality to them. The patterning is quirky and lighthearted

Direction 2: Retro Desert
The second visual identity is a nod to the sandstone rock formations and blue skies of the Mojave Desert where Red Rock Canyon is located. The wordmark and typography emulate WPA national parks posters of the 1930s and orange & teal color grading is used to bring out the natural beauty of the desert centric photography.

Direction 3: Bright and Graphic
Abode is a place where people go to have fun and the third visual identity seeks to express that. The patterning has a lot of movement, the colors are bright and lively, and the photos have a dynamic feeling.
Abode lacks competition in the hostel market in Las Vegas, but Airbnb is ubiquitous and snags much of the demographic we would seek to be our patrons. Loge, Refugio Kalandraka, and The Crash Pad are similarly positioned adventure hostels in other areas of the globe.
