C H I A R O S C U R A is a portable lamp designed to only illuminate the personal space around the user, in order not to waste energy to light the entire room.
Chiaroscura was inspired by Rembrandt’s paintings for the general style, candle holders for the carry position, and carbide mining gas lamps for the reflector.
To illuminate needed area in a chiaroscuro cozy and focus atmosphere, the lamp uses an indirect light.
The lamp is made of only two embossed and folded aluminum sheets, one holding the other.
For a chiaroscuro and contrasting aspect, the mat and grainy black exterior surface, electrostatic coated, is dark and cold, whereas the reflecting polished shiny copper interior surface is warm and luminous.
In a very minimalist aesthetics, the design focuses on subtle details.
An optional battery gives more freedom of move and remove the need for a plug.
