We were asked (as a group) to create a series of magazines about food. There was a list of typical Dutch food and my choice was herring. For the project I contacted a herringfactory in Scheveningen and arranged for a meeting. The visit was amazing and helped me a lot in my research. Most of the project consists of photographs I took at the factory. It was fascinating to see 40 muslima's processing fish all day.

In my research I encountered all sorts of historical and very traditional facts and ways of processing herring. This was in great contrast with what I had seen at the factory and thus I tried to focus on that in my magazine. I took an old song and put it against the photographs I took at the factory.
