When Steelworks reached out about finding a project to collaborate on, I took a look at their work and instantly felt compelled to evolve one of their CGI environments into a location for a full shoot. Always on lookout for stark, cold, modern architectural scenes oozing with minimalism, I knew that with the right car, we could create something beautiful.
Over the course of a few months, we set time aside for in-person visualization sessions as well as screen-shares remotely. We worked closely together while I led Art Direction and Steelworks handled integrating the car to the environment. From composition to light placement, reflections to grading, we aimed for a photorealistic set living in an eery, James Bonde-esque location, using mixed light with warm and cool tones alike.
The liquid silver paint and hypermodern styling of the new Aston Martin Vantage was the perfect match for this world. It was fun to take a step back from the camera and build this scene with digital tools entirely, and it was a pleasure to collaborate with the whole Steelworks team.
