WOODBLOCK PRINTING BOOK

WOODBLOCK PRINTING BOOK
Woodblock Printing: History and Techniques is an informational book about the background and process of woodblock printing. The design of the book incorporates visual elements from woodblock printing. For example, the thick lines throughout the book represent the mark left as a brayer, an ink applicator in the woodblock printing process, is rolled onto a flat surface. The letters in the title are flipped because woodblocks must be carved in a mirrored way in order for the application to then print correctly. Even the typeface is a callback to the types of fonts traditionally utilized in woodblock printing.
