I just imagined this idea of Soundwave surrounded by speakers and energy flowing through him and all of it to create this powerful looking transmission – the kind that has the hairs on your arm stand up.

So I stole some lightning pictures, drew some myself, added the glows, sparks, speakers, low lighting and created which is, without a doubt, one of the coolest Transformers images I’ve ever worked on.

I particularly like the dark look with intense, red visor glow. It localizes and highlights his head and face to show he’s in control.

I feel like this really modernizes the Soundwave despite his retro tapedeck mode.
