Diary of Discrimination
from Digital Gay Dating Spaces
Cutting to the chase, this zine is about Racism. Racism & Discrimination within the online (and by extension more covert offline) gay scene, inflicted by gay people on other gay people. This is a 52 pages long publication that consists of screenshots from actual chats, chronicling my personal experience of Discrimination & Racism in digital gay dating spaces since I moved to Europe from a more conservative society where homophobia is a big issue. I have tried to connect various themes of discrimination that ran through these chats across 4 chapters with over-lapping subject matters.
The chapters also consist of diary entries, an open letter, images and text along with some real world data from surveys conducted by the UK based- FS Magazine which is republished here with permission.
The Zine has been presented to the local Queer community in Basel at a dedicated event held at DiDi Offensive in November. It has also been exhibited at- Zine: Medium as Message; which was part of an exhibition called The Regimes of Truth, in New Delhi, India.
