Basic Animation Studies: Walk Cycle and Lip Sync
This was my first attempt at animation, beginning with a simple walk cycle. This was based off the walk of a Serama chicken, a small, puffy-chested bird that was already comical and exaggerated in the way in looked and acted.
Process
The first thing I did was to design my character in Photoshop and create a 360-degree view of the character. Admittedly, I could have added more frames to make it less sped up. Below is the final outcome of my character's 360-degree view:
I then drafted the side view walk cycle of the character, noting which areas I could possibly exaggerate in the final outcome.
The final outcome:
I also animated a 3 quarter view walk cycle:
The final part of my animation study was a lip sync, done in Adobe Animate. I used a clip from a popular Malaysian for dates "Yusuf Taiyoob" and animated the character according to the audio.
