Generation bonding: an alternative activity for better quality of living
The number of the senior population has been rising rapidly; as a result, it is turning Thailand into an aging society. Becoming a senior citizen is a challenge for some groups of people. It requires preparation and adaptation in order to live a quality life as a senior. Quality life is a subjective measure of happiness which varies according to personal preference, but often refers to having good health, mentally and physically.
Unfortunately, there are many people who failed to adapt themselves after retirement. For example, an active person would lose his value when he retires due to lack of activities. Another person might isolate himself because he is shifted out of some social groups. These problems could create a void in a person's soul - a void that could expand to be a pain or an illness, which degrades a person's life quality.
At the moment, Thai people are changing their lifestyle from an extended family to a single family, according to social and economic situation. However, there is a connection between the changes such as their grandchildren. Grandchildren are a connector between the seniors and other social groups. The grandchildren could help them bond with the society. The seniors could also learn and share their values with the grandchildren and other people in their surroundings. Hence, the grandchildren are one of the methods to heal their soul. According to the research, the next generation: how intergenerational interaction improves life chances of children and young people, stated that the seniors with children as their friends can boost their skills, confidence, and opportunities while tackling ageism and loneliness.
COO KI is a kitchen utensil that aim to embrace the senior and the young to working and preparing their meal together. Beside of being the tools, COO KI is a tale creator. By shaping the food refer to shaping the tale's characters and objects. They can create and decorate the character and object on their own desire. In the end, they will have the meal for the day, and a tale for the night
