This project is my insight into the male gaze, the century long practice that sexually objectifies female characters. The series of photos focus on the female body and the discomfort in the look which warns the audience of their active gaze.
These photos are exhibited on the wall. And to accentuate the violent nature of the gaze and really make the audience aware of their look and question themselves, I put tracing papers on top of the photo, cut a piece out to only reveal a part of the image and smudge charcoal on the tracing paper so that the audience will have two choice: see the photos as they are presented or risk making their hands dirty by flipping the paper to see the full image, the result of which is that their dirty hands will once again remind the audience of how aggressive and "dirty" the gaze can be.
